Did You Know Your Dentist in Glasgow Offers Sedation Dentistry?

Dental Implants Glasgow
Philip Friel Advanced Dentistry is able to offer patients intravenous conscious sedation, something that isn't available from dentist in Glasgow. The reason for this is that dentists have to undergo additional training to gain the necessary expertise to carry out intravenous sedation. The technique is extremely safe and you'll be monitored by two different dentists during treatment. One dentist will concentrate on the sedation, ensuring you are completely safe at all times while the other dentist will carry out the actual dental procedure.

Intravenous sedation is perfect for anyone who is extremely anxious receiving dental treatment, and it can enable our dentists to carry out lengthier treatments in just one visit. It's ideal if you haven't been to a dentist for a while or if you know you'd like to have treatments such as dental implants in Glasgow but feel anxious about the small surgical procedure required. Intravenous sedation means that you'll be able to respond to us during treatment but afterwards you'll have virtually no memory about what has happened. It does take a while for the effects of the sedative to wear off so it's important to bring someone with you to your appointment.

Far more people than you might imagine are anxious over dental visits or even have dental phobias. The dental team at Philip Friel Advanced Dentistry are highly experienced in putting nervous patients at ease, and will make sure to listen to your concerns over the treatment and will ensure any procedures are carried out at a pace you feel comfortable with. Not everyone will require intravenous sedation, and we can also offer oral sedation in the form of a sedative tablet taken a couple of hours prior to your appointment. This can often be sufficient for many people to get through treatment, but again you need to be accompanied so someone can take you home as it will take a while until the sedative has completely left your system.

Although sedation dentistry can help you feel more comfortable over receiving initial dental care we hope that in time you'll feel more at ease in our dental clinic, and more able to cope with routine preventative dental care. If you've previously avoided dentists in Glasgow due to bad experiences in the past then we aim to correct that through trying to make sure every visit to Philip Friel Advanced Dentistry is a positive one.

If you decide to take the first steps towards having a healthier smile then our dental team are always available to answer any questions you might have about sedation dentistry or any other dental procedures. The main thing to do is to let us know of any concerns you might have so we can assist you.
